Not a New Year Resolution but a Current Year Achievements – pelik benor tajuk post

Hi

Hello, it the last day of 2013.

And for most of us, Degree students are facing finals. Just finished Akidah Islam paper and people, that subject is in Arabic. Hardcore Arabic guys T.T

But still me just tawakal as usual lah, got 6 more papers to go.

Anyhow, I manage to squeeze in an update, though this blog was last updated since when entah I rasa macam lama betul tak update, atas alasan basi, malas, takde masa, writer’s block etc etc, even writing this dah bercampuk aduk bahasa. Sorrylah exam week otaknya mixed up, nasib baik tak taip arab je.

Anyhow,

Alhamdulillah
Alhamdulillah
Alhamdulillah for such a great year.

As I planned before ( early 2013 ) I will list out my 2013 resolutions at the end of the year and share whether I berjaya achieve tak. Either way, my resolutions are not that so extravagance sangat pun, biasa biasa je. Manusia biasa nak jadi luar biasa.

Pai’s 13 for 2013

1)     3.8  and above sem 2 results
2)     IELTS / Mandarin
3)     One Short Film
4)     Khatam Al-Quran
5)     Laser Tag/ Paintball
6)     3 English novel
7)     Maintain weight 53-54kg
8)     Savings RM350
9)     Panjat Broga
10)   Travel
11)   Hafal 2 surah panjang & surah pendek
12)   Turun Surau
13)   Road trip

nasib baik simpan list dalam purse

1)      3.8 and above sem 2 results – Mission Failed

Aha, for this, sadly I just got 3.49. Well to be honest, it was kind of hardcore semester with the Organic Chemistry and Physics and some non-related subject tapi still kene ambil  packed in one semester.  Nak sedapkan hati yang dean’s list time sem ni 3 orang je, hiks. So tak rasa left out sangat.

Major ramai pointer menurun gara gara carry marks yg tak seberapa. Aha.

But still abah said “ Ni mesti sebab you busy buat video, gred pun turun “
Aku no komen, cuma terfikir “ Agaknya arwah Yasmin Ahmad dapat pointer tinggi tinggi tak time kat Uni ?”

Sem 3? Hmmm, gua no komen, no komen. At least ada peningkatan from sem 2 pun dah bersyukur.

2)      IELTS / Mandarin – Mission KIV-ed

This resolution is possible actually as in my Uni offers Mandarin classes, but as I rethink again and again, I can’t give a full commitment due to other activities ( of koslah buat video hahaha)

Tapi, based on my experience on learning Mandarin for 2 years during my SBP life, you need to practice it, or else memang ke laut lah ilmu tu. Honestly, out of hundreds of Mandarin vocabs, I can only remember not more than 10 mandarin words; yes I know how pathetic I am.

So I KIV-ed this mission to take Mandarin classes. Maybe bila nak start keje, lagipun I will work in the Food Industry, and 70% in this industry are Chinese people. Tapi ada gak yang kata belajar Hokkien  or Cantonese, lagi widely used, so mana mana jelah. Haha

Oh yang IELTS tu sbb aku jeles tengok member overseas sibuk ambik, so aku macam nak amik gak. Bajet budak local nak dua sijil MUET and IELTS. I did not skipped this though, I did surveyed classes and dates for the IELTS exam but clash with this and that. So I KIV-ed this one too.

3)      One Short Film – Achievement Unlocked and Opened to many opportunities

The first short I made in 2013 was for the MUSAQ an Arabic video competition.  Mine was entitled 3 Siti, this short I dapat ilham from cerita P. Ramlee’s 3 Abdul. For this project sampai ke KLIA kiteorang shoot. Thanks mek, mai, amna, mass, fiz, limah, tin and others yang terlibat ! Tapi yang sedihnya, because the rule was to make a 10 minute video, so ours was 10 minutes and 34 secs, our video was not selected to be judged pun. Haha sadis. Anyhow, had lots of fun making this video. Arabic wehh, Arabic !

Memanglah berazam nak buat satu je video, tapi by this time, I’ve already managed to build up a crew of my own.

Alhamdulillah, Light Motion Production is a part of my life now and we make videos for fun. Consists of 8 members, 2 girls and 6 weird boys. Haha. But these weirdos add colors to my life.

Though macam baru je Light Motion Production tapi Alhamdulillah, rezeki tu sentiasa ada utk kami. Menang a few awards, dijemput berkongsi pengalaman, interviewed by MHI , shortlisted for a few competitions, dapat offer utk wakil Uni in this and that. Again all of this couldn’t happen without all the support from many people and most important Allah’s will. Alhamdulillah sangat sangat.

4,11,12) Khatam al-quran, Hafal 2 surah panjang & pendek – Alhamdulillah, successfully

Honestly, yang khatam al-Quran tu, on the 29th of December I managed to khatam, memang sangat sangat di ambang akhir tahun.

Well ada yang kata, aik, lamanya nak khatam. This is because, bila kita baca al-quran dengan maksudnya sekali, memang ambil masa. Tapi honestly speaking, baca quran dengan mendalami maksud, buat you rasa rendah diri sangat sangat. Betapa indahnya kalam kalam Allah.

For the 2 surah panjang, takde lah as long as Ar-Rahman, I just memorize the surah from my younger years, alah, time zaman sekolah agama dulu, juzu’ ammar. Teringat zaman ustaz Fadhil pegang rotan , get ready nak rotan sesape tak hafal surah An-Naba and An-Nazi’at.

I do get envy with some of my Hafiz and Hafizah friends, they already have al-quran in their hearts. They understand each and every wordings and stories in al-quran. May Allah bless them. Seriously speaking, when I have kids nanti, nak hantar my kids to Tahfiz. All my friends yang Hafiz and Hafizah memang genius sebab they all terang hati, hati penuh dengan ayat al-quran. Ilmu pun senang masuk.

5)      Laser tag/ Paintball – Mission Failed

For this, sadis sangat, sebab satu, tak cukup orang and lagi satu again, masa. Asal weekend je mesti ada event or program to conduct or attend.

I pictured myself playing laser tag with my bukit beruntung friends but mostly of them kat overseas geram betul lah. Haha. Tapi ramai je local, cuma masing masing busy, entah bila boleh betul betul nak kumpul main.

Once, due to frustration of waiting and eagerness to play Laser tag or paintball, I dah hampir nak book main sorang sorang and play with random strangers. Tapi tak jadi, sebab takot masuk team budak budak and kalah dengan budak budak. Ah total failure.

And now, people are saying that playing Escape Room pulak dah. Even one of my sisters dah pi, and from the pictures I can say, so much funlah.  Dah tu, macam lah banyak sangat duit nak main semua bende ni. Face palm.

            6) 3 English Novel - Unlocked

Thanks to the book voucher I read more than 3 English novels. Haha.

1) An Idiot Abroad : The Travel Diaries of Karl Pilkington
2) Chicken Soup for the Soul : Extraordinary Teens ( baca balik after 2012)
3) The 100 year old man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared
4) Teh Tarik Kaw Wunne !
5) Casual Vacancy - now reading
 and others, lupa dah tajuk

7) Maintain weight 53-54kg – Berjayayayaya

Aha, for this because since puasa ramadhan I was on diet, diet nasi.
This is because my netball coach said “ Pai, kau kalau lari, selalu tertinggal punggung “ Sentap. As in lari lambat T.T

So due to my sentap-ness , I planned my own diet, a diet without nasi for 3 months.  Before diet my weight was 56kg , but after the diet managed to reduce till 50.5kg. Teammates netball pun tegur nampak kurus. Eceh. Oh , and tak lari tinggal punggung dah.

But now, dah back to normal diet, with nasi. Ha, lagi lagi tengah musim exam. I transformed to an eating machine. So current weight 53kg. so oklah.

bebudak netball

                8) Savings Rm350 – Checked

At first I want to make daily savings until I successfully kumpul Rm350 in total. But too slow, I just transferred RM350 to my Tabung Haji account. Haha. As simple as that, I managed to achieve this part of resolution.

Cuti sem ni, dah kene daftar untuk giliran Haji. Member daftar dah, dapat turn time umur 63 tahun. Aku nanti?

                9) Panjat Broga – not Broga but Datuk

One time memang tak tau kenapa trending betul orang buat trip pi Broga ni. But, for me I didn’t go to Broga but instead I went to Gunung Datuk. And people, it was not as easy as Broga, as broga is a bukit, and Datuk is a Gunung. Does this even make sense? Haha

My point is, Gunung Datuk is much much much hardcore. Where people climb this gunung to practice for the expedition to Mount Kinabalu.  Because during my trip, had a small talk with some Singaporeans Climbers, they said they always come here to practice and do some fitness for the Mount Kinabalu expedition.

The night that we went home from Gunung Datuk, I was in great pain. Felt like all my bones were all broken and can’t walk properly. To properly describe, a zombie like walking for at least 3 days.

 view from G. Datuk

                10) Travel – Hello South East Asia !

Alhamdulillah had the chance to travel to 3 countries this year. Hong Kong, China and Vietnam.

Learnt a lot from many different cultures and gained fun and new experience.

Makin banyak travel, makin sayang Malaysia. Period.

 Vietnam

 Shen Zhen, China

Hong Kong

1                   13)   Road trip – Still on hold

From what I describe a road trip is usually a solo expedition, or maybe with a few close friends. May be describe as a backpacking trip.

Sadly 2013, is not the year where I go for a road trip, but it is the year where I planned my first ever road trip and it is to Penang !

Alhamdulillah with umi’s and abah’s permission I finally had a chance to go for a road trip after I’m settled with this final exam.

Why Penang? Because I’m going to TROPFEST SEA The World’s Largest Short Film Festival !

Previously, this event was annually held in Australia, but for the first time ever, they expanded this big event to South East Asia and first ever country to be the tuan rumah is Malaysiaaaaa. So on th 25th of January 2014, short filmmaker and lovers from all around the world will gather in Penang for this event. Different backgrounds, different countries, different generations but with the same passion will gather and inspire one and another.  Share experience and share stories. Am getting goosebumps right now.

Thanks to Maisarah that will be my travel buddy for my first ever road trip. Alah, taulah member lain dah trip gempak gempak and saya baru nak bertatih. Well kita start slow slow, nanti nanti kita backpacking dgn crew LMP buat videos around the world. Eh, ini angan angan gitu je.

Well that is all for my very the spontaneous post update.

I can say that Alhamdulillah 2013 was a great year for me. Many ups and downs. Many hikmahs revealed. Yelah, people always say , “Alah you failed this time, sebab ada hikmah lah tu” .

So 2013 is the year where I now see the hikmah, I waited for this sort of hikmah since I turned down on the MARA scholarship 2011. Yes, 2013 is where all the hikmahs can be seen and 2014 is the year where I move on and pursue with great possibilities.

So just believe in Allah , dream big and be positive, just because we are awesome !

So what's Pai's 14 for 2014?

2014,

Bismillah.

Bertapa Di Negara Komunis : Vietnam #2

Disenchanted – MCR #np

So option lain abah pilih Vietnam. Jujur aku kata, aku lagi suka. Haha.

Kenapa kau tanya?

Sebab aku peminat setia Variety Show Running Man, dan hari tu crew Running Man, ada buat episode di Vietnam HCM dan Hanoi. Konon macam menjejaki footprints diaorang. Ceh.

Tunnel Chu Chi

Kalau nak diceritakan sejarah detail berkenaan terowong ini, mahu berjela. Tapi basically dia macam ni la
-          Perang Vietnam, ketika Perang Dingin (ingat dulu sejarah ada belajar kan)

-          Vietnam Vs Siapa?

Brilliant woii.

-          Peluru Recycle, tentera VU tak banyak modal, so depa kutip je sisa sisa tentera AS punya peluru dan cairkan buat peluru baru and lagi powerrr

Haa ini salah satu pintu masuk terowong
Sumpah kecil weh

Ni salah satu trap yg tentera VU
Sakit sakit
Menderita tentera AS, Hang kata, they die slowly because of this
perghhh macam cite Saw

Hang kata kat Vietnam pun ada durian

Abah konon nak jadi tentera

Kakcik berjaya masuk team tentera

Pew pew pew - Abah

Baju kurung RM25 siap manik bling bling weh
Kain sutera RM35 je, boleh buat stok kain baju raya 7 tahun
Telekung RM30, tapi kat KL jual beratus ratus

Destinasi kedua di Muzium Vietnam, maka di sini bersambung lagi sejarah Vietnam War.

Kat sini, banyak cerita pasal kesan selepas perang tu, apa jadi dengan tahanan semua.
Menyayat hati kot. Tapi ramai gak tourist Amerika yang datang, aku tak tau apa perasaan dieorang bila tengok tentera tentera dieorang gak yg kejam gila time perang.

Pastu kata kita yg Islam ni terrorist. Geram.

Destinasi ketiga ke bangunan Parlimen kot, aku pun tak pasti, tapi macam Rumah Rasmi President la juga kot.

Time ni aku dah penat gila sampai rasa nak pengsan pun ada, so aku ignore semua apa Hang explain.

Abah masih khusyuk.

Kakcik setia amik gambar.

Aku cari mana mana kipas or aircond yang ada.

Suhu Vietnam sama je macam Malaysia, panas lembab, tapi selalu hujan sekejap. Aku panggil hujan bersin.
Sikit dia punya hujan macam langit tu bersin je.

Destinasi Akhir Water Puppet Show

Memang power.

Ada dalam 1 jam lebih lebih show dia. Best best.

Malam tu, dinner kat kedai tak mana aku ingat, tapi apa yang aku ingat that night was my first purchase in Vietnam.

Aku bukan jenis shopping sangat, tapi kalau sampai part beli makanan, aku memang laju.

Maka, first purchase aku adalah Roti Canai Pisang dengan sos cokelat. Nak aku gambarkan kesedapan dia  , MasyaAllah, nikmat gilaaaaa.

Pakcik yang buat tu, orang Malaysia gak, Batang Kali je pun, haha, dekat dah Rawang tu.

Pakcik tu duk 5 tahun dah, bujang lagi. Steady betul.

Borong jangan tak borong

Serba sedikit tentang sejarah

Abah ada tanduk

Water Puppet Show

Sekian kot, untuk hasil pertapaan hari kedua. Kira cukup rajin la aku nak update.

Bertapa Di Negara Komunis : Vietnam #1

Fall Out Boy - From Under The Cork Tree Playlist #np

Masa aku kecik kecik dulu aku banyak travel, ikut ayah aku outstation sana sini, UK, China, Australia.

Serious weh, like seriously and literally banyak gila kebabommm motor di HCM berbanding kereta.

Sungguh tenang.

Seperti dalam catatan buku nota : Motor - Care free, Special lane, 4 people

To the extend, 3 dewasa dan 1 kanak-kanak. Compact betul. Tapi memang betul steady. It's a norm for them.

Kampung Melayu

Surprisingly, kami jumpa makcik berkenaan. Muka sumpah sama macam dalam gambar as macam tak tua tua pun.

Nak beli apa yang dijual, tapi akibat kekenyangan melampau, kami mampu ambil gambar sahaja.

Kedai Compact 2 Tingkat

Seusai makan malam, kami berjalan di Ben Thanh market. Jujur aku cakap sungguh warna warni kawasan ni.

Macam I <3 Vietnam ke, senang cerita pakaian depa blasah beli time tu gak.

Oh ye, pasal kedai tu, tak rare mana pun, cuma infrastructure dia lain macam sebab kedai kecik gila, compact tapi buat 2 tingkat. So lain dari yang lain.

Van Coffee Shop

Dalam catatan buku nota cuma aku catat : Hipster. Maka itu saja aku boleh berikan.

Sebenarnya post ni agak terlewat gara gara busy dengan kehidupan Uni, dah lama sangat tertunda sampai buku catatan yang aku bawa ke Vietnam, dah misplaced.

So aku update just based on gambar gambar yang diambil.

Charlie's Angles In Vietnam

Ha, tekalah mana satu full cream, low fat and fresh

Ini kedai compact 2 tingkat

Ini dia kampung Melayuuuuu

Ramai gilaaa tourists

Ada dua kemungkinan,
1) Air limau ais ni sangat hebat, sampai kene letak "The Limau Ais"
2) Auto correct dalam Word

Aku pilih no 1
Haha

Hipster Coffee Shop

Of PSP, 4flat and Korea

Plan nak breakfast dengan member lama, seri, afiq, nae dan daus terpaksa tunda gara-gara hujan.

Haish.

Sebab korang la aku mandi awal.

Semalam tengahari sedang aku gigih lipat kain, umi hantar muqry sekolah, abah berdialog dengan aku

"Kak, you dah lunch belum?"

"Belum"

"Umi ada masak?"

"Masak nasi je"

"Nak makan luar tak?"

"Boleeeeeee sangat"

"Nak makan apa?"

"Nasi ayam traffic light and then boleh tak kita pi masukkan duit raya I kat Tabung Haji?"

"Hmm, boleh gak, I pun nak buat alignment tayar kereta you, semalam service kereta pesona dengan Ah Cai , dia tak de alat untuk setting alignment tayar so kene buat kat rawang"

Masa sambut awal syawal, aku jealous tengok adik aku main PSP, jadi hajatnya kalau cukup duit raya mahu beli PSP sendiri.

Ibu mithalilah katakan.

Sebelum gerak ke Rawang, umi berdialog

"Kak, kasut purple you, selesa lah"

Gambar hiasan

Malang sekali Muqry kata aku kelihatan seperti badut apabila memakainya.

Tak sabar nak family day dengan satu keluarga Food Biotech.
Tak sabar nak main Netball untuk Open UM.

Akhir sekali tak sabar nak kejar 4 flat dan pergi Koreaaaaaaa.

Post yang paling random pernah aku tulis.

Konon layan hujan blues.

FOMO

On Top Of The World - Imagine Dragons #np (lagu ini aku dengar time aku taip tajuk je, gara-gara hilang mood, terus masuk draft.

On Laptop.

Cek Twitter, Facebook.

Nak layan youtube, broadband dah sampai limit.

Kita sambung lah post blog semalam yang tergendala.

Terus klik file bernama 'indie' pada desktop yang mengandungi lagu dari artis seperti Bunkface, Arctic Monkeys, Couple, Bittersweet, just to name a few.

Nampak sangat bercelaru otak aku sekarang sampai intro pun meleret.

Apa itu FOMO?

Fear Of Missing Out

Dari Utusan Malaysia, The Star, dan The Sun.

Defined as a fear of one’s social standing or how one is perceived among peers, and a need to constantly know what is happening and what others are doing, FOMO flourishes through social networking.
Before the advent of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the like, many of us had no idea what others were up to, and therefore didn’t feel that we were missing out on anything. But now it seems that some of us are often left feeling disgruntled by the status updates posted by family, friends and colleagues

Agaknya sense of promoting everything on sosial media sudah berlarutan dan makin parah sehinggakan Oxford sudah mengambil perkataan FOMO sebagai perkataan rasmi.

Itu tak termasuk perkataan Twerk lagi. Dahsyat sungguh.

Tanda Putera

So so soooo many controversial comments and reviews on this one particular film don't you think?

As you can see from the poster, this movie was postponed not once but twice. Showing there are some hot issues going on over here.

In conjunction of celebrating our Independence Day, my dad brought the whole family to watch this movie. Regardless all the negative comments and reviews on this movie, I believe to watch first and then judge it for myself.

Firstly this review is from my own perspective and my own opinion. Again, I don't take sides, especially in political side of view.

I do admit, I am one of those groups which believe " Why watch malay movies in cinema? No quality, better watch western movies, with great and beyond visual effects" . But after involving a bit in videography and cinematography, I now do understand how much work and effort one can give into producing just one short film, so a movie, much much more work have to be done.

Nevertheless, it depends on the plot of the movie too, if it's another ghost story or some mat rempit movie, I'd passed. After watching my 2nd Malay movie in a cinema which is KIL, ( 1st one was in 2011 Ombak Rindu, this was due to my hangout with my school friends, it was between Ombak Rindu or being alone outside of the cinema, of course I choose being with my friends )  It opened my eyes on Malaysians' products. Not just in movies, also in short films.

The thing is, there are so many good movies and short films out there but not in the mainstream market. So as an audience I can assume that, only in the cinemas are the products of Malaysians filmmakers have. Not more than that. On the contrary, there are lots more beyond the mainstream media. The problem might encounter due to lack of audience market, racist issue and maybe the movie was just too deep and with that thought being afraid the Malaysians would not even understand the whole movie. (I think that happened with KIL, from my point of view).

Shuhaimi Baba or Shumi ( her manja name ) strongly advised to the people for to watch the movie first and  then judge. And her main objective was to make a  fictional biographical film about the 2nd prime minister of Malaysia Tun Abdul Razak (father of current Prime Minister Najib )  and his then deputy Tun Dr Ismail set around the time after the 1969 racial riots. In her defense, the film is mainly about the friendship between Tun Razak and Tun Dr Ismail, while the May 13 incident is merely a backdrop to the film. The research process for the movie took almost 1 year. From universities, interviews, libraries, the whole crew made a great effort in making this movie. But to be honest, to cramp a very historic event in a 2 hour movie is very very hard.

For me, the main actors, Rusdi Ramli as Abdul Razak bin Hussein and Zizan Nin as Ismail bin Abdul Rahman had made a good effort in portraying our legend heroes. Even before the shooting starts, all the main actors have to go for history classes for 2 weeks and 1 month of training and practice. But a bit disappointing with the extras and cameo for the riots, some of them are not showing full of hatred with each other. Just maybe, they are amateurs in the first place.

From the cinematography and CGI effects point of view, I have to say it is kind of obvious to see CGI effects almost everywhere, but than again, it is good to see we are improving in this kind of visual effects rather than popping out ghost here and then. Don't compare with the high quality CGI's from the western movies but still it's a start. Kudos to KRU too, because they were among the early companies brave enough or maybe rich enough to use CGI in a movie and nailed it. Even this Tanda Putera movie shoots in KRU's studios. Again, kudos.

I do admit, I cried along watching the movie, because it was really inspiring to watch how 2 men sacrificed a lot in saving this nation. Also, how hard it is to unite the people, how hard it is to protect the country from crumbling after the May 13 incident. The OST for this movie really played a big role in making this movie a success.

I'm from the 90's generation and after watching a movie about two leaders that I've never felt their existence before this, it really changed my thoughts towards our leaders. Don't get me wrong, before this I just know that Allahyarham Tun Abdul Razak was the Bapa Pembangunan and some facts about his background but now Allahyarham Tun Abdul Razak has my most respect of all. And Dr. Ismail, seriously before this I hardly knew him, but now to know how he sacrificed a lot in defending our country, hats off to you sir. Am glad to have such great warriors in our country.

I am not saying Tanda Putera is the best movie I watched, but to have a movie that builds up my patriotic values once in a while is good enough for me. Even watching the BTS of this movie gave me chills.

About The New Village movie issue, I can't wait to see it for myself though it may be banned. I want to see it for myself and judge if it is a double standard to allow Tanda Putera to be shown and not The New Village.
I mean the Malaysians are not that shallow to believe that the communists are the hero to all of this.

For me,sometimes there are no right nor wrong in history, but only different point of views. That's why we in Malaysia write the Independence history differently from the colonialist. Of course to them, the famous Mat Kilau is not a warrior but only a nuisance.

For the record, I'm glad to be a part of the Negaraku program, where before watching a movie in a cinema, we have to sing Negaraku. I sang very loud and clear in my defense, because I do admit, I am a bit of a patriotic type of girl.

Selamat Hari Raya Merdeka to all !

I love Malaysia even more after my trip to Vietnam.

Last year's merdeka photoshoot at home.
